In April 2014, I had the pleasure of presenting at the Saving College Radio symposium at University of Maryland. While in the area, I took the opportunity to visit a few nearby stations, including college radio station WRGW at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

My final radio station visit while in the Philadelphia-area this April, was to see the station where it all began for me, WHRC at Haverford College. I was actually able to visit the station twice this spring, once while school was still in session on April 9 and then again during my college reunion in May, 2014.

On a day when it seemed impossible to visit one more station, I did just that and ventured into Philadelphia to tour University of Pennsylvania's student radio station WQHS on the night of Tuesday, April 8, 2014. The morning and afternoon were a whirlwind of visits to see stations at Villanova University, Swarthmore College, Haverford High School, and St. Joseph's University. After a short break, I headed to Philadelphia.

During a spring trip to the Philadelphia area, I visited five radio stations in one day on April 8, 2014. In the morning, I checked out college radio stations WXVU and WSRN and in the afternoon I traveled to high school radio station WHHS before venturing to see Radio 1851 at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

Back in April, I visited a bunch of radio stations in the Philadelphia area during one jam-packed day. I've already written about visits to WXVU at Villanova University and WSRN at Swarthmore College. Well, on the same day (April 8th), I also ventured to see Haverford High School's radio station WHHS 99.9 FM in Havertown, Pennsylvania.

During my crazy day of radio station visits in Boston and Cambridge on August 6th, my final stop was WRBB 104.9 FM at Northeastern University. I was particularly interested in visiting because my niece Liz Alverson used to DJ there (and another niece started the training program too). I remember listening to her first show and feeling so giddy and proud that perhaps my fanaticism over college radio had spread to her. I think I told her something along the lines of, "this will change your life."

My final college radio station visit while I was in the Boston area (although I still have another visit to write up), was to WMFO 91.5 FM at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Things were pretty quiet at the station over the summer, with many of the station staff out of town or busy with internships. I ended up visiting on the morning of Saturday, August 9th, as more people were around the station over the weekend.
